SpitzkoppeThe Etusis Lodge has recently opened its doors to Rock Climbing. Our climbing site stands out amongst all the other popular climbing destinations with a rock-type that is different to the regular granite at e.g. Spitzkoppe or Erongo. Etusis has a very good quality red quartzite and is a fine place for the traditional climber wanting to practice his skills.

The Etusis Game Reserve is also ideally situated 19 kilometers south west  from the town of Karibib on route from Windhoek to the Spitzkoppe mountain.

Etusis has a rustic but comfortable mountain hut overlooking a river with rock pools which attract game.

to drink. It is only a 5 minute walk to the climbing rock face. Meals are supplied from the Lodge upon request on a daily basis at a very reasonable rate. Sleeping facilities are 2 double bunk beds with mattresses in a single room. The hut has a (cold) shower, toilet, braai facilities, table and chairs.
This hut is particularly appealing for the self-drive climber/s.

For the sport climber there are some great faces which need to be opened. However please contact Ian Walker for more info should you be interested in opening new routes. The costs for the new routes must be carried by the first ascensionist.

Please note that the “Traditional climbing area”,  the area directly west of the Waterfall may not be bolted. We recommend that climbers stay three nights or longer, as Etusis has many other interesting activities to offer.

Please note that all rock climbing be it Traditional - or Sport, is done at own risk. Etusis Lodge nor any of their associates will be held liable for any claim whatsoever including injuries.
